Weekend Loot - 05.15.10

Hello my bloggie readers! It's time again for another weekend loot!

1. Parisian Jr. Wedge PhP 699.75

The last time I bought a pair on Parisian was years, years ago, prolly my highschool days. And hey, they have improved a lot! They've got great styles specially those with heels. For a fact, they always run out of the usual sizes -- 7 and 8. Not sure though of their quality or how long this pair would lasted me but with the price and style, it's a steal already!

2. Avon Naturals Energizing 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner Php 99

This is on a discounted price, originally at PhP 130. What captured me to buy this is the smell.. mango and ginger! I rarely find a mango scent shampoo so with no doubt I order this. Promise to do a review about it soon.

3. Paganini Hair Comb around Php 65

I know I have a lot of good combs already but I love the color of it!!!

4. Love The One You're With PhP 299

Bought another one at Bestsellers, a book by Emily Giffin. I'm actually trying to grow my book compilation by at least buying once a month. My Sophie Kinsella collection is already completed. Hopefully, I can have my own dream library! :)

5. Pink Stuff

Hello Kitty notebook and Pink pens bought at Bestsellers too!

Wishing you guys a great weekend ahead! :)

FOOD: President's Tea House

Do you love Chinese food? Well, the BF does! So once in a while we try to dine on different Chinese restaus to savor and discover which ones serves the authentic taste! This time, it's President's Tea House located at SM North Edsa Annex which originally started in Binondo. We wanted to try it for a long time now until yesterday the BF's really craving for Sweet and Sour Pork.

On the table

  • Complimentary Tea
Forgot to ask what kind of tea.

  • Bottomless Iced Tea PhP 75
Just the normal Lipton iced tea. Bleeeh!

  • Four Season Shake PhP 95
I can only taste 2 fruits in here -- pineapple and watermelon! But I like it, refreshing and perfect for summer.

  • Sweet and Sour Pork PhP 250
Just the regular serving which they say is good for 2-3 persons. But for us it's not enough haha. The BF was really satisfied with it though.

  • Yang Chow Fried Rice PhP 220
What's a Chinese food trip without this? :) Again, this is the regular serving. You can never go wrong, very good by itself. Has a lot of shrimps in it.

The staff are superb, very attentive to our needs and serves fast actually. No need to ask them for a refill of our iced tea. Ambiance is good too! But I tell you, their background music is so funny! Chinese songs to the max! Haha, of course you won't understand it unless you can speak their language. Service charge not yet included so you need to reserve for some tip. This is not an issue actually if you got good service, ayt?

Next time, we'll try more of their dishes like the lettuce wraps and roast duck. Nevertheless, we did satisfy our cravings! Instant date too. :)

Supermarket Finds

Shopping time is girl's "Me Time," do you agree? Even when I'm just lining up in the supermarket aisle, I still feel giddy-goody. :) Here are some of my supermarket finds recently. *Photo loaded*

  • Oishi Marty's Baconnette Strips

Potato that is deep-fried and made to look and taste like bacon! I think this is a follow-up of their oh so famous Marty's Cracklin' wherein they used peas to look like real chicharon. Hence, making it cholesterol-free. For me, their Chicharon is still the best. I find Baconnette Strips nothing but a bag of potato chips in bacon flavor. But my family likes it. Weird me :)

  • Oishi Gourmet Picks Potato Chips Kimchi Flavor

I can compare this to Lays from the packaging size to the quality of chips but on a lesser price (half the price of Lays to be exact). This is a hit for me because it's a bit spicy, slightly sweet and tangy. They really got the smell and taste of Kimchi!

  • Lucky Me! Jjamppong Noodles in Pouch
Again, another spicy food. Jjamppong is a Korean noodle with seafood and vegetable soup. Lucky Me!'s version is obviously not authentic and artificial color laden but this is perfect for times when you just want to warm your tummy instantly.

Notice how many very-dehydated vegetables and seafood they include in the pouch? Men, what can you expect in our country? Sheeesh! ;)

  • Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookie Apple Cinnamon and Honey Nuts

I've tasted these cookies from Quaker before it hit our country and I like their Apple Cinnamon. It has another variant which has Raisins but I never loved raisin, ever. Quaker Granola is good too but I haven't find it yet in our supermarket shelves. A very healthy alternative for breakfast or afternoon snack.

  • Oreo Original and Strawberry Creme
Who doesn't like Oreo? Their Double Stuff is the one I really like but it's always OOS.

You see more food manufacturers are going to the healthier food trend but just a reminder, though they're claiming they use vegetables on your chips you can't hide its very high salt content. Better share it with your family and have that instant bonding time! :)

BEAUTY: Garnier Light Clarifying Foam Review

Hello everyone! I've left my blog for a while now, lot of surprises and events happening for the past days and I can't get to write anything. I miss my bloggie friends. :) Hope you missed me too.

Anyway, I'll be reviewing a beauty product today and one of the most-used in my stash. Must-say a favorite one. I am Garnier user for the longest time. If I can remember it right, Hubby bought my first Garnier product here in Manila because it wasn't popular in my place back then. It is always unavailable to most supermarket.

My love for it started in December 2008 and since then I'm very loyal. If you'll notice I'm more focus into whitening my skin. I prefer choosing products that can whiten it over moisturizing it. I know it isn't a good idea right? :) But you can't blame me, I'm an Asian and we want to be light. Well, I'm still part of those ladies who believes that the lighter the skin the better. And I'm telling you, I ain't good when my skin's dark. Eeeek!

Garnier Light Clarifying Foam

Description
  • With pure lemon essence and herbal extract
  • Clears impurities and make-up
  • Clarifies the skin day after day

Garnier Skin Naturals Commitments
  • Natural active ingredients present in their purest form
  • Dermatologist tested for safety

My take on it

PROS
  • Really whitens your face but don't expect to have the Snow White kind of white
  • Never had a breakout because of it, ever
  • Claims to have pure natural ingredients
  • Finds the lemony scent not too overpowering -- because whenever I get to use a product with that scent all I can remember is the product we use to wash our plates haha :)
  • True to what it says, it clarifies the skin day after day
  • Face smells clean after using it
  • Very affordable

CONS
  • Leaves my skin tight and flaky on first use

VERDICT
As you can see, I have more good notes here rather than the bad ones. Let's just say that's how much I love the product. Though I have a Normal to Dry skin type, I just help my skin by moisturizing it well. Never really had a breakout with it but I still have the occasional zits due to our red visits. This is one product I truly swear!

Tips
  • Always use moisturizer and sunblock. This is very important because you need extra effort in protecting your skin when using whitening products.
  • Rest your skin for a while after few months of using it. I don't know if it's just me but my skin feels tired whenever I use a product for a long time. I go for Clinique as an exchange.

Will I buy this again?
Of course!

Where and How much?
This product can be found on all leading department stores and supermarkets. I bought mine at Watsons for PhP 79 in 50 mL tube.

How about you? Do you also like to whiten your skin or moisturizing it is your top priority? Well, for me I have to say both. Have a safe and happy long weekend. :)
